Birch in clearing mist

Birch and clearing mist, Wimbledon107.jpgThis photograph on Wimbledon Common was taken in the early morning when the light is changing by the second. Mist swirls and clears as soon as the sun hits it so working fast with the camera is essential. Landscape photography is often seen as being relaxing and slow. Far from it. I took several other photos at the same time within minutes and they're all dramatically different. It's often a race to capture the image before it disappears.

Hassleblad, 80mm lens, yellow filter, exposed for 1/2 second at f11, Delta 100 film rated at 50 and developed in Dixactol
