Parking with ease
When we're going with the flow, anything can happen...
I use a small motorbike to go to work as you probably know now, and am usually fortunate to be able to park it just outside my practice in Cavendish Square in a bay alongside 80 others. I arrive early so there is no difficulty in finding a space, but if I ever have to use my bike during the day and need to return later I’m always aware that it may be extremely difficult to find a space. I had to use it mid morning to go to a meeting in north London the other day and as I started the engine I noticed there was a motorcyclist waiting patiently for the next available space. I gave him a smile as I pulled out and said to him that he could have my space. He seemed relieved and very pleased.
I returned to the same parking bay about two hours later and visualised a space being there for me as usual. I nearly always succeed no matter how busy it is, but on this occasion I found that the cycle park was completely full. However, one motorcyclist sitting on his bike, and as I drove up, he pulled out. He turned round towards me and I recognized him as being the same person who I had given my space to earlier. The timing was just as though he was waiting for me to return. He gave me a knowing smile as though he knew something I didn’t and said “There you are, you can have your own space back,” and drove away.
Don't you just love it when things go like that? .....What you thnk is what you get.
