« Is being stupid good? | Main | Changing how we do things »
In London, we have had a lot of rain during the last few days, and last night was no exception. indeed when I got up at 5.30am it was lashing down in sheets. Although it stopped, there have been further heavy showers.
Having had a blistering hot July up to 39 degrees and almost setting new records, August has got progressively cooler and wetter.
It's very unfortunate for people holidaying in the south of England right now and particularly if they are camping.
However,........ And it's a big HOWEVER!....... Doesn't it feel just great? I mean, the air is fresher and clear. Gone are the city fumes, at least for a few hours. And gone is the muggy atmosphere. At last I feel that I can BREATHE!! It's like standing beside a waterfall, or being in the Scottish mountains after rain. It SMELLS different.
Yes, it would be lovely if we could have more sunshine. And we probably will. It's still August and we've been known to have it very hot even in September. But this is a reprieve. And although I'm reluctant to say it, I just love the rain. Or put it another way, I love the effect that a good rainfall has on the atmosphere and quality of air we breathe. Right now it seeme there are more negative ions and it feels very refreshing and invigorating......and sooooo good.
See you later!
:-)

Thank you for seeing all this rain in such a positive context. Lots of people I've spoken to this week have managed at best a "I suppose it's good for the garden" comment. Whereas I love its cleansing effect on my spirit, the street and life in general. I'm off out for a run later and I hope it rains - just so cathartic!
