Choose your thoughts....

Tropical%20Beach123.jpg When the chips are down and there's no escape and your dinner companion asks you "Do you want an ice cream?" Do you say "Yes please." or "I'd better not.....but oooh, go on then." or just a plain "No thank you." If you'd say the latter, you must be one of those rare types of our species who doesn't eat ice cream..... For me, it's a challenge to have one at the end of the meal rather than at the beginning! It's a challenge having had one, not to have another.

I remember Walls Ice Cream company doing research in the sixties to find out why people liked Ice Cream. They spent a fortune interviewing people, running consensus groups....they really wanted to get to the bottom line.....Why do people eat Ice Cream? The net result of all their efforts and marketing was a simple statement. We like ice cream because.......IT'S NICE. That's it. That was the result. So what do you do with that type of in-depth information?

And why am I writing about such chilly trivia when we're plunging into the depths of winter faster than an Olympic toboggan? Because, sometimes it's just good to stop what you're doing and think of something nice.

How much time do you give to your work or doing things that you feel that you 'should do'. They're not particularly pleasurable and possibly even unpleasant, but the demands of life, the demands of the business, family friends and all sorts of commitmenmts tell us that we 'must do' or 'must think about' this, that or the other. When do you ever stop and think of something for a few minutes that's just an unadulterated pleasure, hedonistic, wonderful and enough to make you tingle all over? OK, maybe Ice Cream doesn't do that for you even though Wall's survey shows that the majority of us find it nice. But maybe something else does.

So switch your thoughts to something else that you really do find absolutely wonderful. Think of something that you really enjoy doing. Think of something you'd like to have. Maybe it's meeting a lover, maybe it's having sex, maybe it's chatting with a dear friend you haven't seen for ages, maybe it's horse riding, motor racing, cooking a fine meal, eating a fine meal, stroking your cat, letting the cat lick you, sky diving, scuba diving, having a bath or spa, having an Alexander Technique lesson, painting a picture, playing the piano or violin (that's mine), buying a new flash car, living in a country cottage, sitting on a tropical beach with a long drink......

Think of something that delights you for thirty-three seconds... Do it now.

Think....

Think....

Think...

Was that nice? If it wasn't, then you chose the wrong thought. Do it again. If you enjoyed it.....do it again. Do it daily. If you think of what you really enjoy it's just so good for you. It's soooooo good for you. Your happy thoughts create endorphins, make you feel good, they improve your health and immune system, gives you energy, lifts your spirits, gives you a break from the hurly-burly of life. It also helps to attract what you're thinking of towards you and soon you may well be doing and experiencing this for real. What you think is what you get. So choose your thoughts wisely.

Why am I encouraging you to do this? Because it's one way that I can help you feel good.

Take time out to think of nice things. :-)
