On losing a few pounds

It has been my intention to lose some weight recently, and I'm pleased to say that I am almost down to my target having lost about 12lb (or 5.5 kilos). Not that I was particularly overweight, but I felt heavier than I wanted, and being 'of-a-certain-age' the weight had gathered itself a little bulkily around my tummy.

But that's all changed now and I'm feeling and looking quite a bit slimmer. Trousers that were beginning to feel tight around the middle are now slack, my belt notches at a different hole, and I look, if I may say so myself, a little more svelte.

One of the biggest differences I notice having persisted with the diet for around 6 weeks is how light I feel and how much easier it is to move around. Again I mention that I was far from 'heavy', having been 11st 5lb for my height of 5ft 10in, I am now 10st 7lb. It's not a great deal on the scale of things....(pun not intended), but any reduction in weight means that our musculature and framework has less to carry around. Hence, less strain on the heart and the feeling that vigorous exercise would be easier than before; not that I indulged in excessive exercise, indeed far from it, but more would be relatively easy. It does impress on me however, having known already but the experience does serve to make the point, that by losing some weight, if we are tipping the scales just a bit too far, can make a huge difference on our health, fitness and on our appearance. If we are more dramatically overweight then shifting a few pounds will be even more noticable, as long as it's done sensibly and not too quickly. Naturally we must ensure we get adequate and appropriate nutrition in the form of vitamins, minerals and fibre etc.

From the point of view of posture, it makes life so much easier in 'carrying ourselves around' if there is less......to carry. And rather than being burdened down with excessive weight that can compress unhealthily down on our spine and joints while also squashing our tummy and bowel, we are more able to 'come up' tall, rather like the childlike poise I often mention. We are more able to be free and expansive. The postural muscles that are 'meant' to support us in healthy poise are more able to do so, with ease. And it feels great.

So if you are swithering whether to lose a few pounds, or if you already know that you should and just haven't got around to it, I'd suggest that you really do give it a 'go'. But do so carefully. Naturally it takes commitment and perseverance, but the rewards are great.

If you're wondering what diet I used, it was a combination of the 'Eat Less Diet' and also Food Combining Diet (or Hay Diet). But I must admit to having indulged...with the occasional cake and naughty. See my previous blog 'Naughty? Yes please'.

So from the slimmer and lighter self, I say....have a good day.

:-)
