Make it happen

Man becomes what he thinks. Woman becomes what she thinks. Whatever you think about, comes about. You become what you think about most. You don't believe it? Well I'm not here to persuade you. With all such things, it is our own individual choice what we believe in. But let's just consider it for a minute.

If you constantly think unhappy thoughts you make yourself unhappy and that's the way you will experience life. However, if you think happy thoughts, you make yourself happy, it's as simple as that and hence the web address of this blog.....www.thinkinghappy.com!

If you think of becoming physically free and loose in your joints, you will become so. This is one of the cornerstones of the Alexander Technique, where we can help improve our posture by thinking and 'choosing' how we want to be. We can choose to release unwanted habitual tensions.

If we think that we may catch a cold, we probably will catch a cold. If we think of illness, accidents, trauma and about awful things that may happen, we attract these situations towards us. Have you noticed how those people who always talk of doom and gloom seem to experience life as such? And have you noticed how people who are usually upbeat, happy and not complaining, everything seems to go their way?

If you think failure, that is probably what you will experience.

However, if we think success, that is more likely what we will achieve. No one ever won a race, set a new world record or brokered a deal by thinking they would not do it.

Sports people are trained to visualise themselves succeeding or winning in competition. They devote or invest lots of time to 'seeing' themselves succeeding. They mentally go through the process of running, or whatever activity it is, step by step. Interestingly, scientific studies with athletes performing such mental rehearsal have shown that the relevant muscles involved in the activity are activated, even though the athlete is at rest and 'only' visualising. So I would never say that they 'spend' a lot of time on this as this word suggests that they are giving away time. No. They are 'investing' time in mental rehearsal. There will be a return on their investment.

If we think argumentative thoughts we become bitter and sour in nature. We can set up such a mental pattern that it becomes a habit and will characterise our nature. And if we argue with others, we will probably experience that back.

However, if we think about giving love, whether it is romantic or not we will receive love back. This is not a 'deal' or 'transaction'. If we see the world with loving eyes, if we give friendship, support, care and love to others, it will certainly be returned. It may not come back right away from the same person, but we will receive love back. 'Smile and the world smiles with you.'

In the same way, if we think of wealth and abundance, that is what we will attract. But if we think 'I wish I had money' we won't get it, because the underlying thought is that 'we don't have it'. So what we will get....is more of 'not having it'. We must think that we DO have it. Visualise having it. Create the emotion that you would have if you really did have it right now. The Universe will provide the circumstances to match the expected experience.

My good friend Ronald Harris the well known hypnotherapist in Scotland says there is a well used phrase in psychology. That is...." The expected sensation tends to be realised." This is the basis of hypnotherapy. When we are being hypnotised we are encouraged to relax to the deepest level possible, while still being wide awake. When we are in this state, the specialist can talk to our subconscious so that we begin to believe in ourselves....that we are not afraid of spiders, that we can quit smoking easily, that we will be successful etc. And because we believe it deep down in our subconscious, this is what we will experience.

Now here is something else to consider. If we are 'grateful' for what we have, then we are 'thinking' positive thoughts about our situation and as such we will attract more of what makes us grateful. The emotion is the trigger. If you create emotional energy around something, then this is attracting more of the same towards you. It's the Law of Attraction. So it makes sense to choose your thoughts wisely!

So we could say...."Whatever we think about, and whatever we 'thank' about, we bring about".

I am reminding myself of all this too as I write so thank you for the opportunity of musing on such an exciting and rewarding subject as I now feel quite uplifted....and hope you do too.

:-)
