« Walking barefoot | Main | Where is chivalry? »
Apart from seeing great views this week in Dorset, I am amazed at how many more butterflies there are than in recent years. Indeed, not for a few decades have I seen so many butterflies; in particular the Red Admiral and how wonderful it is.
From the larva egg to the caterpillar, then the chrysalis (for butterflies) or a cocoon (for moths) from which they ultimately come forth and find new 'life'. It seems extraordinary that the fully formed caterpillar with its slow life on leaves and twigs can change so dramatically into the glorious butterfly in a matter of months. The butterfly will then live through the autumn and hibernate under a leaf or somewhere safe during the coldest weather to re-emerge when the weather warms to lay its own larva for the next generation. I love how this new creature is released from its chrysalis for its new life in flight, to flit, dance soar on warm air. And they too enjoy basking in the sun like us, with wings outspread to elevate their body temperature.
I've been through some life changes myself and I hope for a few more exciting developments yet. After a 'full life' as a caterpillar, the butterfly is given wings. I believe that we all have the ability to grow our own 'wings'. Maybe you've had them all your life. But if not, it's never too late should we choose to make a change.... to grow wings and fly. It just takes the belief, the vision. Whether we wish to fly or wish to walk makes no difference. What matters is that we feel that we have the choice. If we believe that we have the choice then it will be so. It's the lack of it or the opposite 'negative' belief that will also......make it so.
Firstly we need to know we actually can make a choice. We have a choice in almost everything in our lives. We can choose for the highest good; the good in our life. No-one else can do it for us.
I enjoy watching the butterflies flit, dance and soar on the wind. It makes me feel free. I remind myself that I am free. I choose to do this. And at the end of this short vacation I shall return to London and choose to continue with my work in the Alexander Technique. Now there's a technique that can help us fly..... :-)
