Season's Greetings

sclaus-20.jpg The peaceful haven of my Alexander Technique practice rooms in Cavendish Square, London W1, do not give any indication of the mayhem and frenetic activity in the department stores and Oxford Street a mere 200 metres away. Suddenly it's as though the shops will sell out of every last possible gift by tonight. The shop counters are host to rugger scrums with people heaving to snatch the last item; while others dodge and weave between racks and shelving units, laden with packages and carrier bags. (Where are the brown paper packages all tied up with string?)

Having had a very warm and sunny start to autumn and only the last few weeks having had any bite in the air it seems that shops have an excess of stock that did not sell earlier and is all now in pre-Christmas sales. Red sale posters obliterate the once Christmasy window displays loudly shouting 50% off all Sale Stock; there will be a lot of Christmas presents bought at half-price.

So tomorrow is our food shopping day as we dodge the Christmas Eve queues for turkeys and trimmings. I'm not too happy about our fridge acting as a morgue for a dead bird for 3 days, but I guess that's par for the course. Then there's the trimmings, extras, delicacies and self-spoiling goodies that just 'must' be bought, yet I suspect we will not eat many ourselves. Good Cheer will prevail despite the hurly-burly of today's shopping. Hopefully stress and hurry will give way to relaxation, calm and Good Will within a few days; smiles will replace frowns and peace will settle in everyone's home. It's all hard to envisage at this stage in the pre-festivity proceedings!

I do hope you're 'getting it all together' with the minimum of stress. I also hope you have a very enjoyable period over the Festive Season in your own special way and that 2008 brings you very many wonderful surprises, a great deal of happiness, health and prosperity.

It's been great sharing some ideas and musings with you over the last year and thank you for being so faithful in dropping by so regularly.

I wish you well. Have a great time and I'll be back on-line with more offerings in the New Year.

Cheers!!
